STS Fenders Safety Policy &
Mooring Standards

Safety Policy

We at FenderSTS put safety first in every ship-to-ship (STS) operation. We place the safety of crews, vessels and cargo at the center of every decision. Our safety policy is built on leadership commitment, competent people, proven procedures and practical controls that work offshore. We always ensure that every STS Fenders and Mooring service is built for safety and reliability by applying the following Safety Policy:

Safety Rules

✅ Follow STS and mooring best practices.
✅ Hold toolbox talks.
✅ Use correct PPE.
✅ Keep clear of snap‑back zones.
✅ Check weather and swell.
✅ Report near misses.

Safety Training

✅  Regular training and emergency drills.

Safety Equipment

✅ Inspection before use
✅ Tagging and replacing as required.

Leadership & Responsibilities

Supervisors and Mooring Masters lead by example: enforcing PPE, conducting toolbox talks, clarifying snap‑back zones, and authorizing stop‑work if needed. Every team member has the right and duty to speak up about risk.

Planning & Risk Control

We conduct pre‑job risk assessments; verify weather, swell and visibility; and align on communications and roles. We consider vessel particulars, cargo, transfer rates and local requirements when selecting fender sizes and mooring layouts.

Briefings & Toolbox Talks

Before rigging, we review the sequence, line leads and angles, lifting points and exclusion zones. We confirm hand signals and VHF channels and ensure all personnel understand their tasks.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Mandatory PPE includes helmets, gloves, safety footwear and appropriate flotation devices where required. Task‑specific protection is added as needed.

Snap‑Back Awareness & Line Management

We mark and brief snap‑back zones and monitor line tensions. Chafe gear and stoppers are used to protect lines and fittings.

Stop‑Work Authority & Incident Learning

Any person can pause the job if something is unsafe. We log incidents and near‑misses, discuss lessons learned and update procedures accordingly.

Emergency Preparedness

We maintain readiness for man‑overboard, line break, equipment failure and weather events through drills and clear emergency roles.

Continuous Improvement

We review performance, feedback and audit findings to keep improving controls and training.
